Funky Vintage on the Central Coast

Bringing vintage to the Central Coast, Fairhaven Services @ the Vintage Fair - the Collective

Vintage Fair – The Collective at Point Clare has to be one of the Central Coast’s best kept secrets. Starting out as an op shop run by Fairhaven Services the Vintage Fair has been successfully expanding and now includes:

  • upcycled vintage fair and store
  • the Schoolhouse bookstore, with a kids story time
  • secondhand furniture shed
  • an op shop
  • art gallery
  • the Fare Cravin’ Cafe

Fairhaven Services is a social enterprise dedicated to ensuring that disability is no boundary for people living on the Central Coast. The Vintage Fair is just one of the contributions that Fairhaven Services makes to the Central Coast.

The Vintage Fair Store

Set in an old schoolhouse, the Vintage Fair Store is a gorgeous little craft store offering items that have been handmade or upcycled. The items included in the Vintage Fair are unique, creative and offer a positive contribution to our community.  All creations are upcycled from goods and services donated to Fairhaven Services, with the proceeds from the shop going back to support community activities.

Fell in love with this one! Such as sweet set.

The products available at the Vintage Fair Store include upcycled furniture, hand-made soap and beauty products, vintage homewares, art and a variety of other craft items. The items are well priced, with the upcycled furniture offering really great value for money.

The greatest thing about the Vintage Fair Store is the cycle of community involvement, donated items are upcycled or handmade, creating opportunities for employment and then sold for profit to support more community services.

Does it get better than that?

Schoolhouse Vintage Bookstore

In the back section of the Schoolhouse is a great collection of second hand books covering both fiction, non-fiction and childrens books. It is a homely space that uses cleverly handmade shelves.

Kids are more than welcome at the Schoolhouse, there is a small spot for them to play at whilst you browse. Our little cherubs were heartily entertained during our visit. Grab a seat and enjoy the inspirational space for a while on the comfy chairs provided.

Blind Date with a Book

An absolutely gorgeous idea created by the Schoolhouse Bookstore is a ‘Blind Date’ with a book. Do you judge a book by its cover?

If you do, then the Schoolhouse Bookstore is for you. Wrapped to hide the cover, the Blind Date books only have the style of the book written on the cover encouraging you to take a chance.

Activities for Kids

The Schoolhouse bookstore runs a free story time for kids every Thursday from 10 am to 11 am.   The ladies that run the story time are lovely. They do a wonderful job of continuing the education tradition of the schoolhouse.

Kids story time is a great free activity on the Central Coast at the Vintage Fair, Point Clare. Read about it with Central Coast Weekender.

Vintage Furniture @ The Green Shed

The Vintage Fair also offers a second hand furniture shed. The furniture at the shed is in great condition and is suitable for use as is as well as upcycling. On the day Central Coast Weekender visited, we snapped up four Parker dining chairs for $10 each! Bargain!

The BEST sandwiches, full lunch menu including special pancakes and a great looking frappe with lyches, pineapple and cocconut (my fav 3 ingredients),great coffee, very pleasant surrounds including kids play area with sand pit, little boat and the bric-a-brac, vintage clothes, etc. Op shop to make it a destination!
