The Central Coast market scene has exploded in recent years, with many new markets to entice weekend shoppers out and about on the Coast. First pick for Central Coast Weekender to profile was the monthly Shelly Beach Markets.
Run on the grounds of Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, Entrance campus, this popular market has a variety of stalls. There is something for everybody; including jewellery, handmade items, adults and children’s fashion, unique home wares, art work, pet needs, plants, outdoor mats, cheese and sweet treats, fresh fruit and vegetables, soaps and soy candles.
The homewares on offer are beautiful, funky and original. There are some seriously talented Coasties showcasing their products at Shelly Beach Markets, support them by shopping local.
A major stall highlight for us was Somersby Oranges; offering a free taste test of juicy, farm fresh oranges, direct from the enthusiastic farmer, who had even painted his face to look like an orange! His enthusiasm for his product was infectious and the produce was sold out at the close of the market.
Food – Spoilt for Choice
One thing we love about visiting a market is seeking out a yummy lunch or snack. Shelly Beach Markets offers a variety of food options for market goers to choose from including Turkish gozleme, your classic Aussie sausage sizzle, Greek and Vietnamese food, a lemonade and popcorn stand and mobile coffee trucks.
Central Coast Weekender was intrigued by the The Hungry Traveller a funky, bright yellow Kombi, converted into a mobile food truck, serving up scrumptious burgers. We tried the Classic Burger. It was fresh, well made and oh so yummy! We highly recommended it to all.
What else will you find?
To one side of the market is a small grassy area, with chairs available for visitors to relax in whilst listening to the tunes of local musicians. For the younger market visitor there is a kids zone with rides available.
Location and Parking
You will find the Shelly Beach Market at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, Entrance Campus, an easy turn off the Central Coast Highway at Shelly Beach.
Parking availability is a huge plus for this market, with a large car park located directly across the road from the entrance. Whilst for busier times, street parking is also available.
Upcoming market dates
The next Shelly Beach Market will run this Saturday, the 26th September from 9am – 2pm, so why not get along and see what is on offer. Spend some of your weekend downtime soaking up the atmosphere of the music, trying some different food and of course meeting small business owners offering quality products.
Central Coast Weekender thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Shelly Beach Markets and highly recommends including it on your list of places to check out.
