Lions Park, Gosford

Playgrounds central coast weekender

Sitting between the Gosford Olympic Pool and the Gosford Sailing Club, the Lions Park is a great open space for people of all ages to soak up the water views, see boats out on the water or enjoy the playground.

When Central Coast Weekender visited Lions Park, we were delighted to see a large group of paddlers, pull up their kayaks on the little sandy patch beside the playground to have a break for morning tea.

You might also spot passenger and freight trains across the water, which will delight young train buffs!

Playground – What’s here?

Lions Park offers the following equipment:

  •  2 swings
  •  A small climbing frame
  •  Big red ship, with a slide, stairs, climbing net and a play area underneath.

The ship provides opportunities for imaginative play, ideal for children 3 plus. Younger children will enjoy exploring around the ship but may require help to access the upper level as one side is open.

There is a large grassy area, providing plenty of space to kick a ball around or spread out with a larger gathering of people. There are only a few trees here, so in the midst of summer there is not much protection from the heat.

For those visitors with younger children, the playground is not fenced but there is a fair buffer between the playground area and the water’s edge.

Additional Facilities @ Lions Park

You will find several picnic tables here, two of which have a shelter covering them. A free BBQ is available for visitors.

A filtered water refill station is installed here, where visitors to the park and users of the Point to Pelican Cycleway can refill their water bottles. Bravo to Gosford City Council on this great initiative.

There are newly built public toilets nearby, either beside the swimming pool or further south near the scout hall.
