Small adventures are sometimes the most relaxing. An adventure doesn’t have to be a day long affair. A peaceful morning in the sunshine can be more than enough for some young adventurers! A trip on Brisbane Waters with Central Coast Ferries is a fabulous way to keep the car at home and enjoy some beautiful waterside destinations.

Catch the Ferry

The waterfront at Woy Woy is one of the most popular destinations on the Central Coast. There can be more to enjoying this idyllic spot that can turn an ordinary trip into a fantastic one.

Central Coast Ferries operates a regular ferry service between Woy Woy, Saratoga, Davistown and Empire Bay. The ferry travels Cockle, Lintern and Paddys Channels every day (except public holidays).

Central Coast Weekender caught the Saratoga from the Veterans Hall Wharf to Woy Woy to enjoy lunch and use the playground.  The trip from Saratoga to Woy Woy takes approximately 10 mins.

To add to the trip on the ferry, feel free to do the round trip to Empire Bay. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.  We were offered the round trip by the friendly ferry master but our 3 year olds in tow wouldn’t have lasted the distance! There is always next time….

The ferry costs $14 per adult return for the round trip. Short fares are only on offer from Empire Bay to Davistown.

The Saratoga has an outdoor deck to enjoy the sunshine or plenty of seats indoors.

Travelling with Kids

The Saratoga is suitable for children of all ages and is pram friendly. Our under 4’s were free.

Disability Access

The Saratoga is suitable for disabled access. Any passengers travelling with mobility aids should contact Central Ferries prior to journey to ensure that the Saratoga is the ferry on this route. The alternate ferry CODOCKII is not suitable for wheelchairs, walkers or scooters.

Access onto the Saratoga can also be restricted by wharf and tide scenarios.

Destination Woy Woy

Central Coast Weekender travelled to Woy Woy for our adventure. The short ferry trip and playground at Woy Woy is a

fantastic combination for young kids.

The playground at Woy Woy is fenced with a short toddler/preschool proof fence. Older kids will easily climb over. The playground is softball bark and is mostly suited to kids 2.5+, however younger kids could play with a parent.

Within the fenced playground at 10 shaded picnic tables to enjoy lunch. If these are full there is plenty of grassed reserve along the waterside further up from the park.

Pelican Feeding

Pelican Feeding takes place at 3pm every day at the Woy Woy Fishermans Wharf.  The pelicans devour the fish scraps from the Woy Woy Fishermans Wharf with gusto rain, hail or shine.

Central Coast Pelican and Seabird Rescue offers an information session a few times a week during the pelican feeding time.

Amenities

The playground has an adjacent toilet block, fenced river swimming pool, boat moorings and reserve.

The ferry wharf at Woy Woy is well maintained and located 30 metres walk from the playground.

Eat

The popular Woy Woy fishermans wharf is located next to the park. The award winning restaurant and business has been operating for 35 years. Woy Woy Fishermans Wharf offers classic fish n’ chips takeaway meals as well as seated dining and a seafood market.
