We love to mix it up during our school holidays with a mix of outings, catching up with friends, a paid activity or two and plenty of fun at home to relax and recharge for the next school term.

The Central Coast Gang Show is going to take you on a family friendly adventure around Australia and the rest of the world. The local Scouts and Guides have once again worked hard to present their annual show full of dances, songs and plenty of laughs. 4 shows at the Laycock Street Theatre, Thursday 13 July 2017, 7.30pm / Friday 14 July 2017, 7.30pm / Saturday 15 July, 1pm and 7pm

A great line up of school holiday classes to choose from including a mini high tea, cupcake decorating, pizza, pasta, Chinese and Thai cooking. Classes available for different age groups, from infants through to high school students.
We have road tested a school holiday class in 2017 and highly recommend the experience for kids interested in cooking.

NSW Sport and Recreation School Holiday programs
Circus stuff, Archery, and Parkour are just some of the awesome sessions, kids can enrol in during the school holidays. A great opportunity to try something new without committing to a whole term of after school sessions.

Go whale watching
Try spotting for whales along the coast. We recently had a visit to the Captain Cook Lookout and it was very exciting to spot two whales making their way north. You can read our profile about places to go whale watching here.
Take a bushwalk
We love a winter bushwalk! No humidity, the snakes are sleeping and a sunny winters days in the bush are glorious. The coast has an abundance of beautiful bushland to explore. A few easy places to check out are at Kincumba Mountain Reserve, Mt Ettalong Lookout or Somersby Falls.
If you are keen for more bushwalking information the website wildwalks has an amazing collection of very detailed track notes that covers off many of the Central Coast National Park areas.
Take a day trip
Holiday time means the chance to go adventuring and explore further from home. Here are three suggestions for you if this idea appeals
Hunter Valley Gardens
Snow Time in the Garden is an annual event which gives visitors the chance to experience some icy fun in the beautiful Hunter Valley Gardens.
The event runs from 24 June to 16 July, operating 10am – 7pm weekdays / 10am – 9pm weekends.
Attractions at the event include ice skating, ice toboggan, 2 large icy play zones, snow ball challenge, inflatables, arcade games and rides (additional cost.) On the weekends you can also see live ice-sculpting at 11am & 2pm.

Visit Lifeline Book Fair
For the book worms in your household we can highly recommend a trip down the M1 to the Lifeline Book Fair. Held at Knox Grammar school located on the Pacific Highway, Wahroonga. It runs over four days and offers 90 000 high quality second-hand books, CD & DVD. We have visited this event before and happily came away with a great collection of books to add to our bookshelf at a fraction of the full retail price.
