January School Holidays on the Central Coast

Wamberal Beach

We love to mix it up during our school holidays with a mix of outings, catching up with friends, a paid activity or two and plenty of fun at home to relax and recharge for the next school year.

Christmas is over, the New Year has passed so what now? Check out these activities on the Central Coast. Happy planning!

Gosford Musical Society Juniors presents Honk!

Be part of the tale of ‘The Ugly Duckling’ this January – presented by some of the best home-grown talent the Central Coast has to offer. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved story, The Ugly Duckling, ‘Honk!’ is a story about acceptance, tolerance and love.

Feeling rather foul about himself, Ugly finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat.  Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters, and finds out that being different is not a bad thing to be.

Tickets are still available $26.  Showing 16 – 20 January 2018. Book online at Laycock Street Theatre.

Visit an Exhibition

Visit Gosford Regional Gallery in East Gosford and see the not to be missed Brett Whiteley exhibition.

Brett Whiteley travelled extensively throughout his life, setting down his experiences in charcoal, photographs and paint – a visual diary of Paris, New York and Tokyo to name a few of his destinations.

This exhibition showcases paintings, drawings, photographs and sketchbooks by one of Australia’s most celebrated artists.

Whiteley immersed himself in new cities, recording his impressions of the urban landscapes and the people within them, with great energy, humour and sensitivity.

On exhibition 9 December 2017 to 4 February 2018.

Take a bushwalk

We love a winter bushwalk! No humidity, the snakes are sleeping and a sunny winters days in the bush are glorious. The coast has an abundance of beautiful bushland to explore. A few easy places to check out are at Kincumba Mountain ReserveMt Ettalong Lookout or Somersby Falls.

If you are keen for more bushwalking information the website wildwalks has an amazing collection of very detailed track notes that covers off many of the Central Coast National Park areas.

Hopefully the above ideas kick start your school holidays with some fun. Enjoy.
